REEVALUATE is a Horizon Europe project that reimagines how Europe’s cultural heritage is digitised and reused. Its goal is to make the process open, collaborative, and inclusive by combining research, artificial intelligence, and design. At FromScratch Studio, we specialise in creating digital experiences that connect people and technology. REEVALUATE allows us to bring this approach to the cultural sector, helping institutions and creators preserve the past while inspiring new ways to experience it.
Our role in REEVALUATE
Our contribution spans research, design, and development across three main areas. We began by leading the user research and stakeholder mapping, creating knowledge that assures that all REEVALUATE tools respond to real needs. Through surveys and user interviews with creative professional and public users, we identified current pain-points and challenges in the cultural heritage sector to be addressed over the course of the project.
Building on this, we designed and developed the REEVALUATE Marketplace, a platform that connects cultural institutions, creative industries, and the public. The Marketplace enables institutions to upload and manage their digitised artefacts, while allowing others to discover, borrow, or reuse them in new contexts. It brings multiple project technologies together into one intuitive interface.

We also lead the AI-Driven Creative Reuse Enabler, a tool that uses generative AI to help artists and designers generate new content from digitised artefacts responsibly. Users can provide a short description or reference image, and the system generates a new visual inspired by the original piece. This makes cultural heritage a living source of creative inspiration while ensuring respect for context and ownership.
Together, these efforts turn REEVALUATE’s vision into a practical, human-centred ecosystem that encourages participation and collaboration between institutions and the public.
What’s next
In the following period, we’ll refine the Marketplace and deepen its integration with other REEVALUATE tools, while testing it in two pilots. We’ll also improve the AI Creative Reuse tool based on pilot feedback, making it even easier for users to explore and reinterpret digitised heritage. By the end of the project, REEVALUATE will deliver a platform that helps institutions and creators collaborate, innovate, and keep cultural heritage alive in the digital age.
